Matthias - ZenTwO - Pollak

Born in Munich in 1981, half Austrian and half French, ZenTwO was raised between the Middle East and Europe. This unlikely mixture led to the development of a particular style with his partner in crime NATIVE who hails from a similar background.

ZenTwO combines calligraphy, illustration, and spontaneously dynamic paint drips. His work leans towards the raw and finds expression in the uneven, in an attempt to access, engage, and integrate rough emotions, feelings of depression, and a destabilizing aesthetic.

ZenTwO has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in Paris, Biarritz, Rome, and New York. Most recently his work was featured in the ground-breaking graffiti show, T.A.G., at the Grand Palais, Paris.

ZenTwO’s work can also be found in numerous urban art and
calligraphy publications, including 400 ml, Arabesques,
The Sessions, and Sideways. Most recently his work was chosen
to illustrate a research text on the quest for identity of Nazi concentration camp survivors, Die Grenzen des Sagbaren.

ZenTwO currently works in Belleville, Paris at “the Forge,”
a collective of artist studios. Recently renamed “the Kommune”,
“the Forge” is a mythical place of creation in Paris for contemporary urban art.

Matthias - ZenTwO - Pollak

né a Munich en 81, franco-autrichien, élevé entre le Moyen-Orient
et l’Occident. Il développe depuis 2004, avec son complice NATIVE,
un style qui combine calligraphie, illustration et coulures de peinture dynamiques.

Sa recherche est expressive, deséquilibrée pour exprimer
l’émotion brute, un engagement… et parfois traduire le mal être dans une ésthétique déstabilisante.

Il participe à certains événements marquants comme l’exposition TAG au Grand Palais et d’autres expositions collectives et personnelles à Paris, Biarritz, Francfort, Rome, New York, etc...
Son travail est publié dans plusieurs ouvrages sur l’art urbain,
la calligraphie et aussi récemment pour illustrer une analyse sociologique sur la quête identitaire de rescapées des camps de concentration (400 ml, Arabesques, The Sessions, Sideways,
Die Grenzen des Sagbaren).

Il travaille en ce moment à Belleville dans un lieu mythique de la création parisienne, la Forge de Belleville rebaptisée la Kommune par la nouvelle génération d’artistes...
